Background
MGT6922/MGT9922 is primarily concerned with the issues of professional ethics and corporate governance in the corporate business world and the wider environmental context. Ethics and governance are intertwined concepts in the professional life of business leaders. A rich and dynamic understanding of ethics and governance from the viewpoints of different stakeholders (such as business, employees, the government, suppliers and customers) foster
trust, accountability, and long-term sustainability by promoting transparency, fair stakeholder relations, and responsible risk management. Accordingly, this assessment requires students to conduct a literature review of studies on professional ethics and corporate governance.
The main purpose of this assessment is to assess students’ ability to conduct independent research and provide them with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to a task involving the critical analysis and evaluation of ethical practices and decision-making in the corporate business world. You are required to submit a written report and a video presentation of their findings in the written report. The presentation is in the form of a mix of visual representation of contents, data, and images to build in the analysis and explanations on written report. The duration for the recorded presentation should be 8 to 10 minutes.
You are required to demonstrate their achievements in the following unit learning outcomes in this assessment:
- Critically assess and explain the basic values and theories of honesty, fairness, and integrity in business ethics as they play out at personal, organisational and global levels.
- Critically assess corporate governance concerns for corporations and their stakeholders and determine how leadership, power, and motivation relate to ethical decision-making in organisations.
- Communicate and interpret ethical reasoning applied to complex ethical business dilemmas to explain and justify ethical outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
You are required to conduct a review of the literature on the relationship between professional ethics and corporate governance, critically evaluate the associations between professional ethics and corporate governance, and present their findings in a research report and a recorded presentation based on the written report. The research report must not exceed 3,000 words (excluding references) and must involve a review of at least FIVE academic articles published in peer-reviewed journals, such as the Journal of Business Ethics, over the past two decades.

Each report should consist of the following components:
Cover Page
The cover page should include the following. Information.
- The Unit Code and Name
- The title of the assessment task
- Name of the Unit Convenor
- Trimester, year and date of submission
Introduction
The Introduction should provide an overview of the literature review, possibly covering the following aspects.
- Purpose of the review
- A summary of key themes, ideas, aspects covered or findings
- A method used to compile literature
- A summary of how the preceding sections of the review are organized
Analysis and Discussion
The main body of the literature review critically evaluates extant literature on professional ethics and corporate governance. This may include a discussion and analysis of (but not limited to) the following aspects:
- Professional ethics and code of conduct
- Corporate governance practices
- Association between professional ethics and corporate governance.
- Corporate governance failures and professional ethics
- Summary of the key gaps identified, or lessons learned
Conclusion
This section provides an evaluation or summary of the major points and key findings (summary of the lessons learned), as detailed in the Analysis and Discussion section. The conclusions should always be concise and must not contain any new information. It should draw the information together and summarize what you have discovered.
Reference List
All sources referred to or cited in the report should be included in the list. Harvard referencing style should be used.
Part 2: Presentation
Your are required to present the key contents of your research report. The presentation should take 8-10 minutes.
You should record the presentation in a video. The presentation video must be submitted online via Moodle.
