The purpose of this assessment is twofold: firstly, to strengthen your independent research skills, and secondly, to examine the influence of research and innovation on perioperative nursing practice.
Part 1:
Choose a perioperative nursing topic. You can select from the topics in Themes 1 and 2, or you can select an area of your own interest.
Search for articles on this topic and narrow your choices down to three articles, with a recommended timeframe of between 3 – 7 years. Describe your search strategies, including databases, specific journals, and key words, and briefly justify the three articles you have selected. For example, are they peer-reviewed, contemporary, and relevant to your clinical practice area? (approx. 300 words)
Part 2:
Write an annotated bibliography on each of your articles.
Annotations should be approximately 175-200 words in length, arranged in author alphabetical order, and follow the framework as outlined in the following core components:
- Citation
- Introduction
- Author background
- Aim and scope of research
- Methodology (if applicable)
- Summary of findings
- Limitations
- Conclusions
- Usefulness to perioperative practice
