- Choose one of the three branches as the focus of your essay. Map out the assessment process and include potential complications and their associated management.
- Use this information to assist you in the planning and construction of your essay.
You may include a reference list or bibliography with your map.
Part 2
Evaluate the role of the PACU nurse in recognising and responding to clinical deterioration in the immediate post-anaesthetic phase.
Build on the findings in your concept map to write an essay that outlines how PACU nurses recognise and respond to clinical deterioration in the immediate post-anaesthetic phase through the nursing assessment process and the associated rationale.
Your essay should:
- include a brief re-introduction of your chosen aspect of assessment, explaining the major clinical management issue you have chosen to examine and why this is relevant to your current practice
- critically evaluate the nursing and medical management in your workplace compared to evidence-based practice
- demonstrate a synthesis of current evidence/professional perioperative standards/clinical practice guidelines/policy to inform the discussion
You should complete your concept map before writing your essay; however, your submission should follow this format:
- Essay
- Reference list
- Appendix
